About me

My name(of course it's my online name, not my real one) is Kamiya Azami. It can also be written in kanji as 神谷 莇.

I graduated from high school with a science & maths major, going on to study computer engineering at university. However, I was only interested in computer-related subjects. I couldn't muster the motivation to study others, and my grades steadily declined to the point where I had to drop out.

About learning Japanese, I started studying after graduating from high school. A friend of mine heard from his acquaintance that she wanted to become a Japanese tutor and was looking for 3–4 people to start a trial course, so he invited me to join. The course ended after a month, during which time I only learnt hiragana, but when I was on my summer holiday in my second year at college, I bought all 4 volumes of Minna no Nihongo and continued studying.

When I dropped out of computer engineering, I almost gave up on going back to university, but my parents convinced me to re-enrol. This time, I opted for a university closer to home and chose a liberal arts programme over a science programme. After finishing the first 3 volumes of Minna no Nihongo, I passed the JLPT N4 exam. I then took the entrance exam and was accepted by my target university, graduating with good grades.

After graduating, I started working as a Japanese interpreter at a Japanese printing machine manufacturing company. I have been working in this field for almost 2 years and finally passed the N1 exam while working at my 2nd company. (tbh I didn't want to work as an interpreter from the outset, but due to family circumstances I realised that it was the only job that would enable me to earn a sufficient salary)

My interest in computers began in high school, when I started learning about operating systems and discovered Ubuntu, a good starting point for those wanting to use Linux. As mentioned above, I had planned to major in computer engineering after graduating from high school, but due to circumstances I was unable to graduate. Thankfully, this enabled me to establish this website where unlike on Twitter, there are no strict controls that could result in me being banned. This is my own space where I plan to write about many things I want to share with you guys.
